We have over 150 member charities that fund all stages of research - from basic science projects to clinical trials - in all areas of health and disease throughout the UK and overseas.
They vary considerably in size, but each plays a vital role in the UK life sciences and economy. In 2019, 151 member charities invested £1.9 billion in medical research across the UK. This accounts for 51% of all publicly funded medical research nationally: more than the Medical Research Council or the National Institute of Health Research.
You can find out more about the impact of our member charities in our sector infographics and reports. You can also access a breakdown of the spending of our member charities in our Member Dashboard which can be found on this page. These data are collected from AMRC members during an annual data collection.
