The Borne Foundation logo

Borne funds research to make childbirth safer for mothers and babies. They are based in Imperial College School of Medicine's facilities at Chelsea and Westminster hospital. It aims to stop preterm labour, the most important cause of death and disability in children. Borne funds and conducts translation research into the causes of preterm birth to develop diagnostic, treatment and prevention strategies to reduce the rate of prematurity. This spans discovery science through to the clinical trial of new medicines or treatment regimes. Their ambition is to give every child the best chance of a life unlimited by disability.
