Influence

Universities, government and funding bodies use AMRC membership as an indicator of quality research funding.

We submit to consultations and inquiries and meet with policy-makers to give member charities’ a collective voice that is heard and acted on.

We publish position statements that communicate our member charities’ united stance on key sector issues and drive positive change.

We develop infographics and reports that demonstrate the vital role our member charities play in the UK life sciences and economy.

Connect

We run meetings, networks and events that connect member charities and key stakeholders, to share learning and foster collaborations that deliver benefits to patients sooner.

Support

We assess our member charities' research funding processes when they apply for membership and carry out a full audit every five years, to ensure they fund the best research.

We produce guides and provide training to help our member charities maximise their impact.

Our member charities have access to...

  • an open publishing platform called AMRC Open Research, which enables them to openly and rapidly publish the results of research they fund.
  • a range of e-newsletters, which provide updates on developments that may affect them.
  • a job circulation mailing, which advertises member charities’ job vacancies free of charge.

If our member charities award funding via open competition…

  • Their 'indirect' costs of research in universities can be covered by the Charity Research Support Fund (CRSF).
  • Their ‘direct’ costs of clinical research in the NHS can be covered by NIHR Clinical Research Networks under the Attributing the costs of health and social care Research and Development (AcoRD) agreement.
