Today, in response to the Life Sciences Vision missions, Nicola Perrin MBE, CEO of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) said: "We are glad to see that the Government has today reaffirmed its commitment to the Life Science Vision and its ambition for the UK’s world-leading life science sector.

"The announcement of funding for the Vision’s missions for cancer vaccines, mental health, addiction, and obesity is a positive step. Medical research charities will have a vital role to play in accelerating research and health impact in these areas along with other stakeholders to bring benefit for patients. We await further details of the missions on dementia and respiratory disease.

"We would also urge Government to continue to take action to ensure that the UK remains an attractive place for clinical trials, given the current pressures on the NHS."
