The Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) have worked together to streamline and fast-track the process for AMRC charities to become endorsed funders for the Global Talent visa (GTV). This process, which is now in place, will reduce the administrative burden for charities planning to fund overseas researchers to conduct research in the UK, and enable the researchers they fund to easily access the GTV.

The GTV is a specialist visa for researchers. One route to apply for the visa is to secure a successful grant application from an endorsed funder approved by UKRI. These organisations are recognised by UKRI as prestigious funders of research and innovation with an excellent track record of awarding funding to researchers with critical skills, following a rigorous peer review process.

Full AMRC members will now only need to complete a simplified form as AMRC membership provides proof of high-quality funding practices. Nominate your/ an organisation to become an endorsed funder.

Catriona Manville, Director of Research Policy at AMRC, said: "Science is a global endeavour. Our work with UKRI will reduce the administrative burden on our charities to access the best researchers who can help answer pressing research questions. This specialist visa is enabling promising overseas researchers to secure funding from UK charities. Attracting this international talent is vital for a thriving research environment that benefits patients across the UK."
