Meeting on an ad-hoc basis 2-3 times a year, the group is an opportunity to inform AMRC's work on EDI, hear about the latest developments in the sector, and connect with other charities seeking to make changes to how they fund research. • Support the cross-sector coalition EDIS (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Science and Health)
  
  
• AMRC is on the steering group for the Medical Science Sex and Gender Equity (MESSAGE) project which brings together research funders, regulators, patients, researchers, and publishers to develop what a sex and gender policy for the UK research funders should include and how it can be implemented most effectively. The project is led by the George Institute for Global Health in collaboration with Imperial College London and is funded by the Wellcome Trust. As a first step towards this, in December 2023 AMRC joined 28 other organisations across the UK medical research sector in signing a statement of intent, signalling the importance of its consideration and reporting in research, to ensure research and its findings are relevant to the broadest community possible.
