Government has published a paper setting out the UK’s approach to negotiations with the EU. It outlines aims to have mutual recognition of standards on medicinal products, pharmacovigilance and clinical trials; a framework for continued cooperation on preventing antimicrobial resistance; and third-party participation in the Horizon Europe funding programme.

If it does not look like a deal can be struck by June, government will consider preparing the country for a no deal and putting all its energies into no-deal preparations.

The EU is seeking greater alignment across various regulations and parallel negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement are now taking place between the UK and USA, with government publishing its objectives earlier in the week.
