We have invited Members of Parliament to sign an open letter to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, which urges Government to take action to preserve medical research charities’ unique and vital contributions to the UK’s research base and economy.

The suspension of many fundraising activities and shop closures due to Covid-19 has had an immediate and severe impact on charities’ income. This risks having a devastating impact on charity funded research, with significant long-term consequences for scientific advances that tackle diseases including the UK’s biggest killers, dementia, coronary heart disease and cancer, as well as threatening the careers of scores of young scientists.

The deadline to sign the letter has now passed and it will be published on Monday 20th July 2020.
