AMRC is recruiting for a new CEO with presence, diplomacy and drive.

This is a challenging and exciting role for a strong and passionate leader with an ability to engage well with the organisation’s almost 150 members and a wide range of partners and stakeholders.

The sector has a strong and authoritative voice and the new CEO will be expected to ensure that voice is retained and the priorities and objectives of charities as research funders are recognised,

You will need a strong all-round awareness of developments within the medical research sector as well as key political, economic, scientific and regulatory trends. You will be expected to be comfortable and experienced in public affairs and speaking to the media dealing with a range of science, health, funding and charity matters, some of which will be controversial and complex.

It is an exciting time to take on this key role for medical research charities with challenges including continuing to respond to the impact of the pandemic; building profile with key audiences - particularly Governments (national and devolved) and the life sciences and health tech sector. You will be leading a small organisation of 14 staff which continually punches above its weight to deliver services that continue to meet member needs. You will be expected to ensure continuing impact, building on professional and cultural strength, and secure financial sustainability of the AMRC.

Hours: 30 hours per week (flexible working)

Salary: Circa £90,000 for 30 hour week
