The individuals working to further our understanding of physical and mental health rarely get the recognition they deserve. We want to celebrate them and showcase their work. That’s why, on 5 July 2023, we’re launching the first ever Research Appreciation Day.

What is Research Appreciation Day?

This new annual awareness day aims to celebrate the hard work of health researchers from across disciplines and so we’re encouraging AMRC members to join us in celebrating it.

The day is being launched by MQ Mental Health Research to celebrate their 10th year of investing in ground-breaking research for different mental health conditions and their treatments.

Who will it involve?

All organisations who support research into physical and mental health conditions are invited to join in on the 5 July by sharing content on social media using the hashtags #ResearchAppreciationDay and #WithoutResearchItsJustGuesswork.

Research Appreciation Day aims to not just celebrate the work of scientists, healthcare professionals, experts by experience and researchers who are working to improve our understanding of physical and mental illnesses, but also to make the case for more investment in research.

What sort of content will be shared?

Ideas for content that can be shared online on the day include:

  • Profiles of individual researchers and their work
  • Sharing the latest developments and findings from research projects
  • Testimonials from service users who have benefited from newly developed interventions
  • You can find more inspiration and downloadable assets on MQ's website

Get involved

Research Appreciation Day 2023 is on Wednesday 5 July. Show your support by posting on your social media channels using the hashtags: #ResearchAppreciationDay and #WithoutResearchItsJustGuesswork.

“It’s time to give research the credit it’s due. Because without research, it’s just guesswork.”
