Prime Minister Boris Johnson MP has announced his new Cabinet. 18 cabinet ministers, including leadership contender Jeremy Hunt, quit or were sacked by Mr Johnson in a considerable re-shuffle. One of the few to remain in-post is Matt Hancock, who has been reconfirmed as Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. Within the Department of Health and Social Care, Baroness Blackwood has also retained her brief with oversight of life-sciences and innovation. Another key appointment for the sector is the return of Jo Johnson to his previous role as Universities, Science, Research & Innovation Minister, which he held between 2016 and 2018. Chris Skidmore MP, previous Universities, Science, Research & Innovation Minister retains a Ministerial position as Minister of State for Health with oversight of NHS finances, capital spending, and workforce.
