NHSX will be launched in July with Matthew Gould as its CEO, a former government director for cyber security who is currently the Director General for Digital and Media at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. He will be responsible for setting the national direction on technology across all the family of health and social care organisations, and will be accountable to both Matt Hancock and to NHSE CEO Simon Stevens.

NHSX is a new joint initiative between NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care which aims to provide a strategic oversight of digital, data and technology policy in the whole of the NHS. Its mission is to make sure that patients and staff have the digital technology they need.
