Intellectual Property (IP) Advisory Group The IP Advisory Group was established in 2018 to provide oversight and guidance on mechanisms to enable funders and providers of medical research to support innovative research. The group was established following the consultation on AMRC’s revised IP guidance which took place during early 2018. The final version of the guidance was published in September 2018. It provides an updated framework for charities developing their own policies and processes to help them protect their right to IP and to income generated, so that they can use it to fund more vital research. The IP Advisory Group aims to: Bring expertise and knowledge together from areas including research commercialisation, law and business development from across all stakeholder groups (charities and government funders, university tech transfer & R&D offices) ; and Provide a platform to discuss some of the issues identified in the AMRC consultation on our revised guidance. The revision of AMRC’s IP guidance was led by an IP Working Group formed in 2016. In 2017-18, the Working Group oversaw the revision of AMRC's IP guidance, which had previously dated from 1997.
