The National Centre for Social Research has published their annual British Social Attitudes Survey findings, which show an increasing trust in science and a strengthening of confidence in science and technology.

The survey found that:

  • 85% trust university scientists “to do their work with the intention of benefiting the public”
  • 67% trust company scientists “to do their work with the intention of benefiting the public”
  • 77% agree that “science and technology are making our lives healthier, easier and more comfortable”
  • Just 11% now feel that science does more harm than good, compared with 24% in 1993.
