On 15 January, parliament resoundingly rejected the Prime Minister’s Brexit deal when the government lost the Meaningful Vote on the draft Withdrawal Agreement and Political Declaration. In response, AMRC’s Chief Executive issued a statement reiterating the sector’s grave concerns about the damaging impact of a no-deal Brexit on patients and medical research. She stated that a no-deal Brexit scenario presents an unacceptable risk to patient safety and pioneering medical research in the UK.

Following the loss of the vote, parliament continues to be volatile and a clear way forward is yet to emerge. AMRC continues to monitor Brexit and communicate the position of the medical research charity sector. Our position statement on exiting the EU can be found on our website.
