On Wednesday 19 July, following the release of the Home Office's statistics on animal research in the UK, we published our annual animal research briefing.

This briefing highlights the number of AMRC member charities that carried out animal research in 2017 as well as providing a breakdown of the types of animals used. We produce this briefing to enable our members to be more open about their funding of research involving animals.

In 2017 it was found that 66 of our member charities funded at least one grant involving animals and that mice were the most common animal used.

You can find the briefing here and you can read up on the top 10 tips for speaking about animal research in Understanding Animal Research's new guest blog.
