In response to the publication of the Department for Health and Social Care’s clinical research vision, Hilary Reynolds CBE, Chief Executive of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) said:

“The new vision is a welcome and important step in the right direction for clinical research in the UK.

“We fully support the ambitions of the vision but it must receive appropriate levels of funding to grow, adapt and improve the UK's clinical research system.

“Over the last year, medical research charities have stepped up to support COVID research whilst managing clinical studies and trials that are vital to the patients they represent. Moving forward, we have no doubt they will also play a critical role in delivering a better clinical research system that will save and improve countless lives.

“We continue to engage with stakeholders on the development and progression of the vision, and hope that the level of collaboration and cooperation is maintained.”
