In response to Government's announcement of £200 million investment to enable research to better access NHS data, Nicola Perrin, Chief Executive of the Association of Medical Research Charities said:

“Making better use of data is so important to innovation and medical research. We cannot stress enough the value of doing this in a responsible way, having listened to and continuing to listen to the public’s voice.

"People want the opportunity to be involved in clinical trials and the new ‘find, recruit and follow up’ process should help bring more opportunities for patients to take part in speeding up developments.

"We're encouraged by this investment and support for Trusted Research Environments, and hope it will be a step towards getting it right and building the trust and confidence needed.”
