Doug is Director of Research and Development at the Alzheimer’s Society where he led on the ambition to triple its investment in Research and Development to £10m by 2017. Having met that commitment he continues to lead a growing world leading research programme that is delivering real impact for people affected by dementia and has pledged an investment of at least £150m over the next decade, including becoming one of the founding funders of the UK Dementia Research Institute.

Doug completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge on HIV research. He worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the MRC’s National Institute for Medical Research, working on malaria, before taking up a post at the Multiple Sclerosis Society leading the biomedical research programme.
