How medical research charities work together in their funding streams
In June 2010 we launched ‘Ways & means’, a project to explore collaborations between medical research charities and co-funding arrangements both within and outside the charity sector. We would like to thank all members who have taken part in interviews and completed our online survey (which is now closed).
This project has enabled AMRC to gain a good understanding of the current network of collaborations within the sector, and has contributed to a comprehensive report that will be launched at this years’ AGM in November, and be made available to all members.
The report identifies pathways leading to collaborations, common reasons for the initiation of co-funding arrangements, the benefits and challenges of this process, as well as advice for members who have not yet explored collaborations for themselves. In addition, it informs on the sector’s current collaboration practices with the pharmaceutical industry and the vision for the future of collaborations.
The report thus presents a comprehensive, but by no means complete picture of collaborations between medical research charities. In addition, the Ways & means project will enable AMRC to give advice for members exploring collaborations, and will pave the way to connect charities wishing to collaborate in the future.
