This week’s Eurobarometer on Science and Technology highlights the enormous generosity of the British public in giving to medical research.
On behalf of its 120 member charities, AMRC would like to thank those who have donated to, and supported, medical research charities over the last year and enabled them to continue funding vital science that is contributing to health and wellbeing in this country and across the world.
In 2009-10, the membership of AMRC funded £1.1 billion worth of medical research across the UK. It is no mean feat in the current economic downturn and we ask donors and the government to continue their support for the most vibrant charity research sector in the world.

The 2010 Eurobarometer on Science and Technology shows that the UK is second only to the Netherlands across the EU (70% versus 78%) in terms of the number of people saying they have donated money to fundraising campaigns for research – the Europe-wide figure is 39%.
