On 19th May MPs voted 336 to 176 against an amendment to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology (HFE) Bill, which would have prevented researchers creating 'human admixed embryos', cells containing animal and human material. The proceedings of the Commons debate and vote can be found on Hansard.
Following consideration of the most controversial clauses of the Bill by a Committee of the whole House, the remaining clauses of the Bill will now be considered by a Public Bill Committee. There are scheduled to be 10 sessions between Tuesday 3rd June and Tuesday 17th June.
