The Rare Diseases Research Landscape Project Report has been published today. The AMRC was part of the steering group, and provided analysis for the report that showed the significant and diverse contribution of medical research charity funding in this area.

Dr Catriona Manville, Director of Research Policy at AMRC commented:

"Mapping rare disease funding is key to understanding the UK strengths and identifying areas of unmet need. We know that focusing research to address this is a vital role for charities. Our analysis in this report reveals just how significant charity funding – from so many of our members - is to the rare disease research landscape. For this to continue and bring faster improved outcomes to patients we ask for strong and sustainable government backing for life sciences so all funders, including charities, can collaborate and invest with confidence."
