AMRC response to National Data Guardian advice to Royal Free Hospital and Google DeepMind re data sharing

"This highlights why guidance is required from Government on the use of patient data. We know that the sharing of data is imperative to improve patient care but that data has to be shared responsibly and within strictly governed transparent parameters.

"In all medical research we know that testing is vital to ensure patient safety but there has to be an openness and transparency about how data is being shared to ensure that safety. We ask that patients’ views are sought - many are desperate for solutions to their conditions and know that the sharing of data could save or improve their lives."
